Vinay's interview with Carbon Unbound Showcase
In a recent interview with Carbon Unbound Showcase, Vinay shared a candid look into what it takes to build high-integrity nature-based carbon removal projects. This conversation wasn’t about breakthrough science; it was about something quieter, deeper, and often overlooked - execution.

Here are the key takeaways:

1. Beyond Carbon Removal

Vinay emphasizes that carbon removal from the atmosphere is just one piece of the puzzle. Real-world success requires deeply integrated systems, and to scale with integrity, structure plays a key role. At Thryve, we weave clear governance, operational rigor, and risk management into every project, bringing clarity and accountability without losing ecological care and local intention that define nature-based work. We place stakeholders, including landowners, farmers, local communities, and capital partners, at the center from the beginning.

This isn’t ‘carbon tunnel vision’, it’s a holistic project design, built to restore and designed to scale.

Thryve’s full-stack approach is built on three core systems that deliver lasting impact: the D-MRV Stack, the Ops Engine, and the Intelligence Hub.

You can explore each in more detail on our Our Tech page.

2. Ground‑Up Community Partnerships

Nature-based projects are built on relationships, not just with the land, but with the people who depend on it. Vinay points out that early engagement and shared stewardship with communities guide every stage of project development, ensuring focus on long-term benefits.

The best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago. The second-best time is now.

3. Tech That Builds Trust

Technology is often labeled as a monitoring tool, but we deploy it much earlier. From land eligibility mapping to dynamic risk assessments, digital tools are integrated throughout the project lifecycle to ensure visibility, auditability, and accountability.

Through our full-stack approach, we’re reshaping how nature-based carbon projects are developed and scaled:

  • Replacing fragmented spreadsheets with integrated digital field tools
  • Measuring co-benefits like biodiversity and livelihoods alongside carbon
  • Using AI to streamline early-stage development and reduce bottlenecks
  • Remote sensing technologies are advancing rapidly

Investor Advice:

Start by getting really clear on your goals - are you looking for impact, financial returns, carbon credits, or a mix of all three? The clearer you are upfront, the easier it'll be to find the right kind of project or partner.

Our current focus is on Indonesia and India, two countries that boast rich potential and biodiversity for high-impact regeneration. As we grow, we are actively evaluating new geographies with the right conditions.  Wherever we scale, our approach remains the same. We're focused on doing the work the right way from the start - funding what's needed early, staying grounded where the projects are, and partnering closely with communities. That's how we build a future where nature-based solutions scale with both integrity and momentum.

Think of it like planting a forest. You don’t just drop seeds and hope for the best. You consider the weather, soil, water, and the people who will care for it. Our approach is the same: start with strength, and growth will follow.

It’s not an easy path. But as Vinay emphasizes, it’s the only one that endures.
